Shri Ram's Birth Certificate
Juxtaposes the historicity of Shri Ram with that of Christ—questioning why Western narratives are considered fact, while Indian texts are dismissed as mythology.
PROJECTS
This video explores the differing standards applied to figures from Indian and Western religious traditions, focusing specifically on the birth narratives of Shri Ram and Jesus Christ. It challenges the popular assumption that Ram is purely mythical while Christ is a historical certainty—despite the gaps and inconsistencies in the biblical record.
The script draws heavily from primary Indic texts such as Valmiki’s Ramayana, which details planetary alignments, nakshatra timings, and genealogy tracing back to the Ikshvaku dynasty. Parallelly, it contrasts the vagueness in the New Testament accounts—highlighting contradictions in Jesus's parentage, birthplace, and lineage as recorded by Matthew and Luke.
To support the dating claim of Shri Ram’s birth, the video references astronomical data compiled by researcher Nilesh Oak, who uses sky simulation software to match the descriptions in Valmiki’s text with real celestial configurations. Over 500 observations are cited in support of a specific date: 29 November, 12,240 BCE.
Visually, the video intercuts high-contrast animated sequences with old manuscript imagery and text overlays to balance tone and tempo. The goal was to deliver a layered argument using both satire and citations, while maintaining narrative clarity for a wide audience.
All content creation—from research and writing to editing and animation—was handled internally. The piece is representative of Prachyam’s larger effort to foreground Indian narratives using verifiable methods and contemporary formats.
